James W. West, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. West is the vice chairman of the Betty Ford Center Board of Directors and was the medical director of the Betty Ford Center from 1983-1989. He is a graduate of the Loyola School of Medicine, practiced surgery for forty years. In addition, he started the Illinois State Medical Society Panel for the Impaired Physician, was an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center and taught at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Chicago. In March, 1993, the Betty Ford Center honored him with the naming of the James W. West M.D. Training Center.
