About the Course

This course examines adopting a community-based substance use prevention model and how to build engagement to support its implementation. It includes: community-based health promotion and substance use prevention, Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM), implementation of innovations within complex systems, motivating influences, strategies to develop buy-in, and resistance to the adoption of the IPM.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Building Engagement to Support Adoption of Community-based Substance Use Prevention Initiatives created by Tanya Halsall et al in 2022.
