About the Course

The study evaluates the Brief Intervention for School Clinicians (BRISC), a four-session school-based strategy designed to improve the efficiency of mental health services for high school students. Conducted in 49 high schools across three states, the study compared BRISC with services as usual (SAU) on metrics such as feasibility, acceptability, treatment completion, and student-reported outcomes. Results showed that BRISC achieved higher rates of treatment completion, reduced problem severity, and increased early engagement in mental health services without compromising the quality of care. These findings highlight BRISC as a promising approach to address the rising demand for effective and efficient school mental health services.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Effectiveness of a Brief Engagement, Problem‐Solving, and Triage Strategy for High School Students created by Eric J. Bruns et al in 2023.
