What Factors Influence Implementation of Whole-school Interventions Aiming to Promote Student Commitment to School to Prevent Substance Use and Violence

Systematic Review and Synthesis of Process Evaluations

About the Course

This study, led by Dr. Ruth Ponsford and colleagues, explores the factors influencing the implementation of whole-school interventions aimed at promoting student commitment to prevent substance use and violence. The research systematically reviews process evaluations, focusing on the key factors affecting successful implementation, including adaptability of interventions, staff engagement, and collaboration. By applying May’s General Theory of Implementation, the study offers insights into how schools can modify their environments to better support student health, with an emphasis on addressing violence and substance misuse among students.
