Key Substance Use and Mental Health Indicators in the United States-Results from the 2021 National Survey on Drug Use and Health

About the Course

This course is based on the SAMHSA 2021 National survey on Key substance use and mental health indicators in the US. It should be noted that some of this data is based on past year use, which would include the pandemic year of 2020. Also some criteria and methodology changed in 2021, so this year should not be compared with previous years. It includes: substance use initiation, perceived harm, and recovery. It also includes specific data related to the effect of the pandemic on use. Mental health data discussed includes Major Depressive Episodes, suicidality, AMI, SMI, co-occurring disorders, barriers to treatment, and mental health service use in the past year.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Key Substance Use and Mental Health Indicators in the United States-Results from the 2021 National Survey on Drug Use and Health created by SAMHSA in 2022.
