About the Course

Part 2 focuses a more general knowledge of CBT and of group processes to specific populations and presenting problems. The authors offer practical guidance based on both research and their own experience. Suggestions are made regarding logistics (group size, duration, session length, number and roles of therapists) as well as clinical issues (e.g., diagnostic and demographic homogeneity) and session content specific to treating anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, and mood disorders.

Peter J. Bieling, PhD

Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and Clinical Consultant for the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Dr. Bieling is a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and has written extensively about cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for depression. In addition to his research activities and academic work, he is an active therapist and teacher of CBT.

Randi E. McCabe, PhD

Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and Director of the Anxiety Treatment and Research Clinic at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Her research focuses on anxiety and related disorders and the development and evaluation of cognitive-behavioral interventions. She has published over 160 peer-reviewed papers and eight books.

Barbara F. McMillan, LPC

Barbara McMillan, BA, MS, EdD, LPC has 35 years of experience as a therapist, clinical director, and administrator in mental health and substance abuse programs. She holds degrees in psychology and education, and has been a licensed professional counselor and supervising counselor for many years. After 18 years in various roles in private and public mental health settings, she became a full-time college psychology and sociology instructor.
