This study examined the association between cumulative exposure to traumatic events, emotion dysregulation, and mindfulness disposition on substance use craving in a sample of predominantly Hispanic and non-Hispanic Black women in residential treatment for SUD.

Mariana Sanchez, PhD

Dr. Mariana Sanchez has over 20 years of experience in conducting longitudinal and community-based health disparity research across the lifespan including youth, emerging adults, and adults. Her program of research seeks to gain a deeper understanding of the sociocultural risk and protective factors that influence health behaviors, with an emphasis on substance use and its related consequences among Latino/a populations. Her work has been published in multiple peer reviewed journals.

Hortensia Amaro, PhD

Dr. Amaro's research includes role of mindfulness disposition, exposure to history of childhood and adulthood interpersonal traumatic events among women in SUD treatment and their roles in craving, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and treatment outcomes. She has published multiple works in peer reviewed journals.

Hana Kuc, LMHC, NCC, CASAC

Hana Kuc is a Licensed Mental Heath counselor and a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor who has been working in the field for 13 years. In that time she has worked as a counselor, therapist, educator and director. Hana has specialized in working with clients on medication assisted treatment, who are in recovery from opiates, and are also diagnosed with a mental health disorder.
