Traditionally, treatment approaches for anxiety-based problems have tended to emphasize the use of unique treatment protocols for specific disorders, even though most people with anxiety problems have more than one disorder, and the treatment strategies that are best supported tend to be similar across disorders. This workshop focuses on strategies for treating the core features of anxiety-related problems, regardless of the specific diagnosis. The presentation will discuss (1) the rationale and empirical support underlying transdiagnostic approaches, (2) Barlow’s Unified Protocol for Emotional Disorders, (3) Norton’s Transdiagnostic Group Treatment; and (4) transdiagnostic case formulation based treatments. Participants will receive a comprehensive handout.
This course is based on the recorded webinar, Transdiagnostic Treatment of Anxiety and Related Disorders created by Martin Antony in 2023.
