Past research has shown some evidence that active military clinical populations have poorer treatment outcomes for PTSD than civilian populations. This is a meta-analytic study aimed at studying differences in treatment outcomes for different types of military service (active combat, sexual assault in the military, and a combination of both) as well as differences between military and civilian populations. Researchers of this study offer recommendations for improving treatment of PTSD for military populations.

Casey L. Straud, PsyD.
Dr. Casey Straud is an Assistant Professor and Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in collaboration with STRONG STAR-CAP. His research interests are predominantly related to PTSD, resiliency, and military health. More than 30 of his works have been published in peer reviewed journals.
Jedidiah Slev, PhD.
Dr. Slev is an associate professor of psychology at Swarthmore College. Before moving to Swarthmore in August 2016, he was an assistant professor of psychology in the College of Psychology at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). At NSU, he directed the Anxiety Treatment Center and the NSU OCD and Related Disorders (NORD) Program. His research focuses on the development, maintenance, and treatment of anxiety disorders, especially OCD. He is particularly interested in cognition, including information-processing, meta-cognition (thinking about thinking), and decision-making in OCD and anxiety. He has had multiple works published in peer reviewed journals.
Stephen Messer, PhD
Dr. Messer is an Associate Professor of Psychology in the College of Psychology at Nova Southeastern University. He has worked in the military setting, serving as the Chief of Psychiatric Epidemiology at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), Chief of Psychiatric Research at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and is currently the Deputy Director of Research at the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury. He has had multiple works published in peer reviewed journals.
Paul Pawlicki, PsyD, received his degree in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL, in 2005. From 2004-2006, he taught courses in general psychology, abnormal psychology, and human sexuality at Collin College in Plano, TX. He currently practices individual therapy at the Department of Sexual Medicine at Park Nicollet Health Health Services near Minneapolis, MN.
