This course examines approaches, integration and special populations in using family therapy to treat SUD. It includes: overview of family-based treatment methods, family approaches to support ongoing recovery, appropriateness of integrated family counseling in SUD’s, whom to involve in integrated family counseling for SUD’s, screening and assessment in integrated family counseling, goals of integrated family counseling for SUD’s, why focus on diverse family cultures, culturally responsive family counseling, and SUD treatment for specific family cultures.

She has worked with dementia and Alzheimers patients, dual diagnosis MH/MR, in a battered women’s shelter, and a rape crisis center. She also has 11 years of experience as a child protective social worker, where she earned certificates in domestic abuse/family violence and substance abuse.
