Brian Grahan, M.D., Ph.D. holds the positions of Hennepin Healthcare Addiction Medicine Physician and Project ECHO Co-Lead. He is also an Addiction Medicine Fellow at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Minnesota. Dr. Grahan’s clinical practice focuses on the care of people with substance use disorders as well as the social, medical, and psychiatric conditions that often occur together.

This course is recommended for all mental health and addictions professionals who are interesting in learning about adolescent substance use, including screening and intervention processes and procedures. This course is appropriate for all levels of participants' knowledge/experience.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  1. Describe the research about and statistics regarding adolescent substance use.
  2. Discuss the recommended processes and procedures for screening adolescents for substance abuse using validated tools.
  3. Describe the recommended interventions to use with adolescent clients who use substances.
