This course examines the preliminary screening of adolescents, comprehensive assessment of adolescents for referral and treatment, and the screening and assessment of adolescents in juvenile justice settings (JJS). It includes: an assessment model, selection of screening and assessment instruments, screening, the need for community coordination, the assessor, setting, the multiple assessment approach, assessment instruments, written report, screening and assessment protocols in the JJS, evaluation and quality management monitoring in the JJS, and staff training the JJS.
This course is based on the reading-based online article, TIP 31-Screening and Assessing Adolescents for Substance Use Disorders-Screening and Assessment created by SAMHSA in 2012.
