About the Course

This course discusses Brief Interventions and Brief Therapies in both alcohol use and substance use. These interventions include mild, moderate, severe and dependent users. The therapies covered are: brief cognitive–behavioral therapy, brief strategic and interactional therapies, brief humanistic and existential therapies, brief psychodynamic therapy, short-term family therapy, and time-limited group therapy. Theses chapters include theory, research and application of these interventions.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, TIP34 Brief Interventions and Brief Therapies for Substance Abuse: Introduction and Brief Interventions created by SAMHSA in 2012.
