About the Course:

This course is based on research designed to address addiction to a wide variety of drugs, including nicotine, alcohol, and illicit and prescription drugs. It will discuss how addiction affects multiple brain circuits, including those that involved in reward and motivation, learning and memory, and inhibitory control over behavior. It is designed to serve as a resource for healthcare providers, family members, and others trying to aid patients in need of treatment for drug abuse or addiction.

This course is based on the reading-based online, Principles of Drug Addiction Treatment: A Research Based Guide created by National Institute on Drug Abuse in 2012.
