This course provides information regarding commonly used psychotropic medications. The course material discusses brand names, generic names, side effects, and benefits of these medications. The course material includes two short articles giving depth to the topic. The first article is “Brief Overview of Common Psychotropic Medications: A Practical Guide from a Clinical Viewpoint” by Paula Blank, MD, PhD. The second is “Introduction: Mental Health Medications” by the National Institute of Mental Health. The course will assist professionals in gaining greater knowledge of these medications.
This course is based on the reading-based online article, Psychotropic Medications Common in Mental Health Practice created by Paula Bank, MD, PhD et al in 2010.
