Identifying Mental Health and Substance Use Problems of Children and Adolescents: A Guide for Child-Serving Organizations

About the Course:

Introduction; and Prevention and Early Identification of Children’s and Adolescents’ Mental Health and Substance Use Problems (Introduction and Chapter 1): Identifying Mental Health and Substance Use Problems of Children and Adolescents was created to promote early identification of children and adolescents with mental health and substance use problems as well as to provide guidance, tools, and resources for early identification, including a compendium of the most developmentally, culturally, and environmentally appropriate screening instruments. The purpose of this guide is to address the approaches, methods, and strategies used to identify mental health and substance use problems of high-risk youths (persons whose ages are between birth and 22 years) in settings that serve either a broad spectrum of children and adolescents or a high-risk population.
