Treating Pornography Addiction carefully walks someone struggling with pornography addiction through the steps to recovery. The book begins with how pornography becomes a problem in the mind and how it becomes addictive. Then it teaches the reader how to rewrite the patterns in the mind. It closes with the key steps of recovery. Though written for patients, it contains information useful for treatment professionals.
This course is based on the book, Treating Pornography Addiction: The Essential Tools for Recovery created by Kevin B. Skinner, Ph.D. in 2005.

Kevin B. Skinner, Ph.D. is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice and a member of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH). Over the past few years, he has worked with more than one hundred individuals and couples who are dealing with pornography-related problems. Dr. Skinner taught marriage and family courses at two major US universities.

This course is recommended for health care professionals, especially psychologists, counselors, social workers, and addiction professionals who seek knowledge about the treatment of pornography addiction. It is appropriate for introductory to intermediate levels of participants' knowledge.

After taking this course, you should be able to:
Compare and contrast pornography addiction with sexual addiction and addictions to drugs or alcohol.
Describe the process by which a pornography addiction develops.
Describe the irrational beliefs that maintain pornography addiction.
Describe the stages of change, as they apply to pornography addiction.
Describe the characteristics of addicts most likely to relapse.
Explain the use of the Relapse Prevention Journal in the recovery process.
