About the Course:
This course looks at the need to develop pathways for women of color to access mental health and substance abuse/addiction services reflective of, and responsive to, their needs and experiences.
This course is recommended for health care professionals, especially addiction counselors, psychologists, mental health counselors, social workers, and nurses who seek knowledge about mental health care for women of color. It is appropriate for all levels of participants’ knowledge.
Become more familiar with mental health and substance abuse disorders prevalent in minority women.
Describe and define stigmatization and its effects on women of color.
Be able to take positive service delivery and community action steps to help minority women overcome disparities.
