Continuing education
You may not renew your license without completing the required continuing education or obtaining a waiver or extension from the Board. If you have not completed the required CEUs, but have extenuating circumstances that you believe warrant a waiver or extension, please email the Board at amh.board@mass.gov with your request for a waiver or extension and attach supporting documentation (e.g., a physician’s note). Please be aware that waivers of the continuing education requirement will be granted only in extreme situations. Please allow 7-10 days for your request to be reviewed. 30 CEUs are required for each licensure cycle, unless you are in you first licensure cycle when your CEUs are prorated based upon your issue date (1/1/even yr-6/30/even yr = 22.5, 7/1/even yr-12/31/even yr = 15, 1/1/odd yr-6/30/odd year = 7.5). Current regulations, including all Continuing Education Requirements for ALL LICENSEES, can be obtained by visiting our website. Board approved providers can be found in the FAQ section of the above website.
Random Audits:
The Board conducts an audit of a randomly selected sample of licensees to ensure that the Continuing Education Requirements are met. Please be aware that you may be audited for up to two years following renewal and it is advised that continuing education documentation be maintained for four years. If you have any questions about these requirements or how to meet them, please contact the Board office.
